Breast Lift Surgery Procedure
The breast lift surgery, or mastopexy, varies for each individual depending on the breast volume, the amount of sag in the breast, and the loose skin. Two of the most commonly used procedures for breast lift surgery are concentric mastopexy and anchor-shaped mastopexy.
For patients with minimal sag, concentric circles are drawn and cut around the areola, and then the areola is surgically moved upwards along with the nipple. Usually, any loss of volume after the removal of excess skin around the areola is compensated by a small implant placed underneath the breasts through the same incision. A more complex breast lift technique is used for women who have larger and severely drooping and sagging breasts. The procedure is commonly known as anchor-shaped mastopexy. Pre-operative exact marking is drawn, and surgical incisions follow the marking. The breast skin in the upper region of the anchor is removed along with any excess breast tissue. The nipple and the areola are then repositioned in the lower portion of the keyhole shape.
